General Wallpaper Questions

Traditional Wallpaper is meant to be a permanent solution, although we still wouldn't recommend installation in a humid room such as a bathroom with a shower. It is “less” expensive for the product but typically needs to be installed by a professional.

Peel & Stick Wallpaper isn't a permanent solution but could last for several years depending on the conditions (it shouldn't be utilized in a humid area). It's great for rental apartments and dorm rooms where one can't "permanently" alter the walls, or projects like lining the back of a bookcase. It's more expensive to purchase but can typically be installed by a novice (non-professional). To apply, the back is peeled off to reveal the adhesive on the paper.

We don’t recommend installing any wallpaper in a humid area such as a bathroom with a shower, although many of our customers have done this with success. We highly advise against using Peel & Stick in a humid area because it will cause the adhesive to fail.

Most of our Traditional Wallpaper is sold by the "double roll" and is one long roll that's 27 feet long and 24 inches wide (there are a few exceptions to this, so please refer to the item's description details). If you would like to calculate how many rolls you need, consider the height and width of your room, pattern repeat (found under the Description tab on the product page), and whether it is a straight or step match (found under the Description tab on the product page).

Our Peel & Stick Wallpaper is sold by the sheet and there are 3 size options (width x length): 24” x 48”, 24” x 96”, and 24” x 144”. Select the height you will need for your ceilings. From there, you need to know how many sheets you'll need for your wall width. There will be a 1/4" overlap at the seams. Unlike Traditional Wallpaper, you do not need to account for the pattern repeat - if you order based on your ceiling height, the patterns will line up side by side with a 1/4" overla

Our production window for wallpaper is 2-4 weeks, then moves on to the shipping method chosen. Expedited shipping does not expedite production.

Once your order has started production, we won’t be able to cancel it. Contact us as soon as possible so we can check the status of your order.

Wallpaper (Traditional, Peel & Stick, and Samples) is not eligible for returns, exchanges, or refunds. Due to the print-on-demand nature of our wallpaper products, we highly recommend calculating your coverage from the product page of the specific design you want to use and/or referring to your wallpaper installer to help determine the number and size of rolls needed for your specific project. We are unable to restock our made-to-order wallpaper rolls.

We inspect every order before sending it to you, and you should inspect your wallpaper immediately upon receiving it. In the unlikely event of your item getting damaged in transit, please email us with photos of the damage within 7 days of receiving your wallpaper. If the product has been damaged during shipment, a claim will need to be filed with the courier.

If during the process of installation your wallpaper appears to be faulty, please stop installing the wallpaper immediately and take a few images of the issue. Then remove the wallpaper before the paste dries and get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Katie Kime is not responsible for any costs related to installation or removal of wallpaper.

The pattern match determines where the Traditional Wallpaper pattern matches at the seams.

  • Straight: the design moves straight across from one wallpaper strip to the next. When hung, every strip will be the same at the ceiling line (the same part of the pattern in the first and following strips will be the same distance from the ceiling).
  • Drop: the design runs diagonally from the ceiling (it does not run in a straight line across the wall). The design is staggered so only every other strip is identical at the ceiling line.
  • Random: the wallpaper doesn’t have to be matched at the seams. No matter how you position the wallpaper next to the previous strip, the pattern goes together.

Unlike Traditional Wallpaper, you do not need to account for the pattern repeat with Peel & Stick Wallpaper - if you order based on your ceiling height, the patterns will line up side by side with a 1/4" overlap.

Not at this time, but you can always send requests and ideas to us at customerservice@katiekime.com to keep in mind for the future!

Our samples are 8 inches by 10 inches. Samples are strongly encouraged to be sure you're happy with the general color, design scale, and material. Sample orders can be placed online by choosing "Sample" under “Size” and adding to your shopping cart.

Samples allow you to get a general idea of the color, scale, and material!

Color: Colors displayed online may vary slightly from the actual product because of things like different screen types and settings like brightness and contrast. With samples, you can see what the full-sized wallpaper will generally look like.

We will note, though, that samples aren’t always going to be a perfect color match to full-sized wallpaper. Wallpaper samples are printed in batches, meaning a large quantity at once, but your wallpaper roll(s) will be printed to order. During the time between printing samples and your wallpaper, the printers may have gone through printer calibration, which can result in slight color variations. It will be subtle, though, and is typically more noticeable with deeper colors and solid backgrounds.

Scale: Samples are printed to scale, so you’ll be able to see exactly what size elements of your design there’s are so no surprises. Keep in mind that an 8”x10” sample won’t be able to feature every element of every wallpaper we sell, especially city toiles. But it should give you a good idea of what to expect with a full roll.

Material: Our Traditional wallpaper has a smooth matte finish, whereas Peel & Stick has a slight weave texture matte finish. For both types, it can be helpful to view the material in the space you’re wallpapering. You can also apply a sample to a discreet patch of wall to see how it will look on that surface, since texture on the wall behind the paper can impact how your wallpaper will look.

The production window for samples is 1 to 5 business days, then moves on to the shipping method chosen. We are often able to get samples shipped out in 1 business day, though!

Traditional Wallpaper

Double roll: A double roll is one very long wallpaper roll, not 2 rolls like the name might imply. Most of our Traditional Wallpaper is sold by the double roll and is 24” wide by 27’ long (there are a few exceptions so refer to the item's description details).

Single roll: A single roll will be shorter in length than a double roll. Our Otomi Traditional Wallpaper is sold as a single roll.

Two roll set: When the repeat is so large that it takes 2 double rolls to complete the full pattern, the wallpaper will be sold as a set. Our Penelope wallpaper is sold as a set and is 2 double rolls, both 24" x 27'.

It’s important to note that our wallpaper is printed to order, so slight variations in color can occur between batches. Therefore, we recommend ordering all the rolls you’ll need in one go.

Traditional Wallpaper is not pre-pasted; we recommend a standard wallpaper paste.

We strongly recommend hiring an installer for calculating how many rolls you will need, and installation.
